Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome


Hand arm vibration syndrome or HAVS is a condition that can be developed by employees who are exposed to vibration including the use of powered hand held tools.



HAVS is also known as Vibration White Finger or VWF, which is a very common name for the condition. With HAVS the affects of exposure to vibration develop over a period of time during the period of exposure to vibration.

The distinctive features of HAVS are

  • Tingling and numbness in the fingers
  • The finger or fingers turning white with increasing frequency
